Default Circuit for Mullard LP1186 module

Hello,

During the de-clutter I came upon a Powertran tuner kit based on the 1974 Wireless World article ‘Novel stereo FM tuner’.... This tuner uses a Mullard LP1186 front-end module and I wondered about the circuit Mullard used in this front-end module - all right I could take this module apart - but that’s not such a good idea, and I wondered if someone has a copy of the circuit of this module? I suppose if I could find a module I could copy the circuit of this to save disturbing the one in the tuner!

I’ve found the data sheet but not the circuit.

From memory these ‘LP’ modules were based on the circuits found in the Transistor Audio and Radio Circuits book.

Regards
Terry

These units were never made to be repaired so its unlikely you will find a circuit

I think Terry already has that one and it doesn't contain a circuit diagram.

It will be the same one as this:

The Roberts RM30 service manual contains a diagram of the LP1186 circuit, although unfortunately it doesn't specify component values:

Inspired by the above I have provided a snip from the Trader sheet for the RM40 in the convenient form of a pdf. Once again no component values - c'est la vie.

BTW I had to edit the snip first, the emitter resistor for the RF amplifier transistor had been omitted; good ol' Trader.

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies both via the thread and PM's.

Thanks for the suggestion of looking at the RM30/40/50 service sheet as it has the circuit, all be it less the values. Using the Roberts RM30/40/50 Trader service sheet and the white Mullard transistor audio and radio book I recon I'll be able to gleam the info I wanted.

It would be nice to know the values if someone should unearth the 'pukka' circuit and application notes with values etc., I'd still be interested.

Thanks to ukcol for the 'snippet' of the trader service sheet.

Again thanks for the replies - its appreciated.

Terry
