As we cannot see either end, that picture doesn't help!

Where is the attached end attached too?

What does the circuit diagram show?

If we're to tell you where the wire goes to we'll need to know where is comes from.

The service sheet is your friend.

Yes I have the service sheet but can’t figure it out.

It comes from tuning cap, valve end, and I can’t find any other brown wire nearby that would have been cut.

Also what I’d the wiring layout on the blue wires at the gang side.

The tuning capacitor is made up of two ganged sections. C3 is the Radio Frequency (RF) section and C18 is the Local Oscillator (LO) section.

As far as I can see both sections are connected to various points on the wave change switch. The RF section is also connected to L1 primary, C5 and C66. I can't see any connection to a "valve end".

Component references are to manufacturer's service sheet.

The tuning cap is a two-gang 528pf/528pf, being C23 and C35.

C23 goes to switch S5w and S6x then on to C24, 100pf in section G4 of Trader sheet 1410.

C35 goes to C34, 100pf also in section G4.

Have you removed C24 and C34? Have you replaced them?

Please take a good, well lit, picture of the underside of the chassis in the area G4.

We also need to know which service sheets you are using as they are numbered differently.
