Default Dansette Bermuda mk2 tone arm position problem

Just aquired a Bermuda mk2 with a BSR C109 deck. Everything was working fine then all of a sudden once record drops the tone arm goes almost to the finish position then goes backwards and drops onto the record. Any help would be appreciated

Is this the very first time you have used an autochanger? Are you using the record stack overam correctly i.e. has it seated properly when pushed back over the spindle?

No, not new to it. Have a Dansette Capri as well. When you set the auto changer going the arm almost goes to the centre of record then goes roughly back to about third of way in and drops.

As I say it was working perfectly then all of a sudden started to do it

All sorted. On the main arm that lifts and lowers the tone arm there is a shaped piece that that turns with a kind of V shape in it. Long and short was it must have seized and the peg jumped over it and also pushed the bent up tab that's the stop back. Cleaned and greased it and adjusted stop then cleaned whole deck. New to servicing these units but have a mechanical and electrical background and throughly enjoyed learning through trial and error how it all worked. Hoped that all made sense.
