It certainly does unless you use specialist non-corrosive types, they ain't cheap though, have a limited shelf life and it takes longer to set than the normal stuff.
I am fairly certain we used the Dow Corning (now Dowsil) 3145 non flowing type at work a few years ago, they stupidly bought two cartridges for one job (at about £70 each) but we only used about half of one cartridge, it's now well past the use by date but still seems to set, but doesn't come out of the cartridge as easily. Dow Corning 3140 RTV (flowable) http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1696829.pdf Dow Corning 3145 RTV (non flowing) http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2006142.pdf Edit, Note from the datasheet; "These adhesives are not typically used in highly confined spaces or where a deep section cure is required as they generally cure from the exposed surface inward at a rate of 0.25 inch per seven days. Thanks for all the great replies certainly some food for thought , the Nasa Info and pictures are fantastic and the` flushing out ` method intriguing, just wondering if the holes could be sealed after flushing non mechanically ?, just a thought but certainly going to give it a try either way.
