You have nice Welsh water in Liverpool, Kev. Southport's comes from a bore hole somewhere and is very limy. If I left a record to dry here it would have irremovable white streaks down it

The United Utilities website can provide a whole load of data on the local water supply composition. I think by post code area. I reviewed mine in the Ainsdale area of Southport about a year back so as to properly set the parameters in my dishwasher.
I suspect the source for different parts of town may vary with time as Utilities mix their own sources.

As a further thought to this, I wonder if a drop or two of dishwasher rinse aid to the final rinse would be of value?

I have a record cleaning machine, and given the hardness of local water in the Thames Valley, I buy high grade distilled water from here https://www.buydistilledwater.co.uk/

The RCM I have used a little pot of surfactant they supply that goes into 5 litres of distilled water.

Might seem pricey at £8.30 for 5 litres. Shipping is not cheap resulting in £15 for 5 litres.

But I have only just bought my second 5 litres in as many years.
