Default Power Adapter for BT Robin cassette answering machine

Hi everyone,

I picked up a bt robbin answering machine from our local junk shop. The machine is from around 1985 and came with its origional instruction book. The problem is, that it doesn't come with a power adapter. There doesn't seam to be any info anywhere to say what voltage or milliampage the adapter should be. I do have a multi-end multi-voltage adapter that I could use, but unsure what to set it to. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks so much,
Tim

I think it is 12Volts BUT double check and also wether the centre pin on the machine is Positive. They do not take much current.

Used to have one of these and apart from reworking loads of dry joints it was ok.

Wow! That was quick! Thanks David. I am completely blind, but I did ask someone a while ago whether it said posative or negative on the machine, but they couldn't see a marking that said either. How would I find this out for sure?

Thanks so much for your help,
Tim

Can you get inside and look for helpful electrolytics?

Normally Positive centre pin but check,if you meter a positive side of a capacitor to the centre pin it should prove it.

There is a Robin on Ebay at the moment. Perhaps the seller would answer your question.
