4th June BVW&TV Museum Garden Party!
No sooner have we recovered (just about!) from the NVCF and it's only just over two weeks now to the annual GARDEN PARTY at the BRITISH VINTAGE WIRELESS and TELEVISION MUSEUM in West Dulwich, South London, see: http://www.bvws.org.uk/events/diary.php on SATURDAY 4th.
Tickets £19 on the door (or a little cheaper in advance by using the form in The BVWS Bulletin) including a hearty buffet lunch and a pud, excellent value! Musical entertainment. Come along and enjoy a nostalgic day out in the company of like-minded enthusiasts and listen to sounds of the thirties emanating from vintage wireless receivers. Watch glorious black and white TV programmes on pre war equipment! During the day, there will be quizzes, raffles and the ever popular lucky dip! An the usual radio jumble stalls in the quadrant. Museum tours arranged throughout the day! Free on street parking. Why not make a weekend of it and visit the VINTAGE TECHNOLOGY FAIR at the CINEMA MUSEUM just a few miles up the road in Kennington on the SUNDAY 5th, open to all 10am to 4pm, £5 entry: http://www.cinemamuseum.org.uk/2016/...ogy-fair-2016/ Many stalls selling vintage equipment and spares, including many of the BVWS regulars and of course the BVWS stall itself with a packed van load of radio/test gear/audio/etc. from the stores, capacitors, Deoxit, etc. The Cinema Museum itself will be selling surplus valve and vintage sound projection equipment. Lots of old cinema equipment and ephemera on display in this wonderfully preserved Victorian Lambeth Workhouse, for a time the home of a young Charlie Chaplin! Hot and cold snacks, no congestion charge on Sunday! See you there!

Hello everyone,
The annual Garden party will be held at the British Vintage Wireless & Television Museum in Dulwich on Saturday 4th of June. This event is open to everyone. This is a wonderful days entertainment with music, a quiz or two, lucky dip, plenty of food and drink. The Museum will be open for everyone to look around and see the changes that have been made over the last year with two new galleries and more work continuing all the time. Start time is 11:00 am and it is £15 for advanced bookings (can be by phone 020-8670-3667) or £17.50 on the day. The weather will be good (specially ordered by Eileen) The TV room will be fully operational and much of the vintage equipment will be running throughout the day. A yearly event not to be missed!!! See you all there. Mike...

Just giving this a 'bump' up to publicise, as it's only a week to go now!
Mods-I notice Mike has posted also, can they be merged?

Re: 4th June BVW&TV Museum Garden Party!
Here's hoping for a sunny Sunday in Dulwich, from damp and overcast Dunkerque. I'd planned to return to London this weekend and come along, but as usual, work intervened. Enjoy!

Re: 4th June BVW&TV Museum Garden Party!
Certainly one of the best and well attended garden parties of all time. The weather was very kind to us. Fabulous food and lots of it. The television room was without doubt the warmest spot. [Around 50 receivers]
Congratulations to Eileen and everyone that put so much effort, and believe me there was a massive amount of preparation to make it a memorable occasion. It was also great to meet so many vintage radio and television enthusiasts in one gathering. Regards, John. Last edited by Heatercathodeshort; 5th Jun 2016 at 9:03 am. Reason: Picture added. |
