Does anyone know what diode i need for the above chime push button as i am now going to run on a transformer.

Why don't you run it from a regulated 6v DC wall-wart?

a "diode" and "transformer" might imply an unregulated and unsmoothed supply which won't be suitable for an electronic chime.

What kind of transformer is it?

The chime is 8v the transformer is basic 4/8/12v type.

Anyone out there can help please, the connections on the chime are ac v/ac c1 c2.

Thought they just ran on AC about 8 volts or 4 batteries - but can't find your part number listed.

It runs ok on the batts x3 but i just cant get it to work properly on a transformer 8v .

I presume that the C1 & C2 relate to different chimes. So there should be a common on one of the AC terminals that goes to the push and returns to C1 or C2. One of the AC terminals ought to be marked C or Com.

It should be - the transformer connects to ac and v/ac as per right hand side of your photo. The bell push connects to v/ac and C1 for two tones or v/ac and C2 fit a single tone. Make sure the batteries are not fitted and the transformer can supply a minimum of 1 amp.

Sorry to say tried that no joy, the bell push light comes on but no chime.

The two circuits appear to be dependant on if you have batteries fitted or not. With batteries fitted you can wire either way, but for transformer only you must use the RH version. That uses an extra connection from the transformer to the V/AC terminal. Have you missed that?

Does the bell push light go out when you press the push?

Normally the bulb is wired in parallel with the push contacts so the fact that it is on indicates you do have a complete circuit and that the transformer is working. But it should go out when you press the push as the contacts will short-circuit the bulb

Also try disconnecting the push wire from terminal C1. Then take another bit of wire (any electrical wire will do) and connect one end to terminal V/AC (along with the other wires that are there). With the transformer on, touch the other end of the 'extra' wire to C1. Anything? Touch it on C2. Anything then? Your extra wire is, of course, acting as the bell push and its connections.

Good news i was using an 8v plug in type changed it to proper transformer and it works.
