Default GPO 746 New Project

Hi bought a 1974 ivory GPO 746 to work with my X Link Blue Tooth landline converter and it works great . I got 2 other GPO 746s for spares or repair in the deal and is considering in making a multi colour phone not painted ( as that would be to easy ) but using different parts better than been left in bits ? any thoughts kind regards Bob

No harm in that at all if that’s what you want. Purists won’t approve but it’s for your entertainment, not theirs!

I think mix and (miss)match approach was a legitimate activity in Whitehall war-rooms and nuclear bunkers where everything had to look suitably scary.

It's used in some extension 'plans', for example to open the bell circuit if any telelphone is off-hook. Or in one case I remember to turn on a recording device when you pick up the handset.

If you're just wiring the 746 as a 'normal' telephone you can remove it. But don't throw it away, there are people who want such parts for the use in those 'plans'
