Default GPO Meter 127A

I am a long retired GPO / BT external lineman and have some much cherished kit from the old days. Amongst this is my old meter 127 in its original case which now does not seem to work on any of it's scales. Looking at it it was made by Taylor instruments of Slough (now long gone I am afraid) and has a "Centre Pole" movement with a knife edge pointer. This is open circuit when I go across the meter terminals. I was hoping someone somewhere could advise if its the coil and this is repairable or any other possible fault ....... also if has taken one of these apart for repair any tips or warnings ?
