Bell & Howell 613 Wiring
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Bell & Howell 613 projector but it didn't come with a power cord or transformer. I live in UK and I've managed to buy a Bell & Howell transformer that is suitable but I wondered if anyone out there had any idea what the connections should be from the transformer to the projector. I've tried connecting straight across (ie male to female in corresponding pins) but to no avail. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Bell & Howell 613 Wiring
To the best of my knowledge the connector pins on the projector are numbered as follows:
13 is ground/earth, 14 is neutral, 16 is motor live and 15 is lamp live. Use ohmeter to ensure mains earth is connected to the projector casing before commencing any live tests. Another poster to this forum recently found that his earthing stopped at the transformer..... Measuring the input to the projector you should get 110v AC between pins 14 and 16 and again between pins 14 and 15. Mains wiring errors can be lethal. If in any doubt please consult an electrician or someone with suitable qualifications. Regards, PS: operating manual here http://www.marriottcameras.co.uk/ins...thpictures.htm Paul |

Re: Bell & Howell 613 Wiring
Thanks for the help. When I looked properly at the pins & numbers I realised that the socket on the projector is 90 degrees in respect to the transformer. Luckily I always power all my projectors through a RCD just in case of any mishaps. I bought a PAT tester a while ago and I test my projectors before I use them. So far even with the oldest machines (probably only going back to the early fifties) have passed without any problems.
Also does anyone know if the plugs & sockets are available anywhere to buy? Thanks in advance of any assistance |

Re: Bell & Howell 613 Wiring
They're known as 'Jones plugs' and do occasionally appear on Ebay.
