1980s? Sharp R8000E microwave and convection oven
This was chucked out as scrap but I thought it might have salvageable components inside, considering the age it's probably a lot better made than he modern stuff?

Re: 1980s? Sharp R8000E microwave and convection oven
It probably does. A friend still has one and she prefers it to the modern fitted oven in her kitchen. The turn-on button takes a bit of a knack to get it to hold in, though.
I've tried looking for something new with the same capacity and capabilities... nope. The ergonomics are good too. I suggest you clean, fix and use! David

I'd be keener to keep it if it didn't have quite so much German Shepherd upholstery!

Hi
Several makes of combi ovens of this era were prone to the perforated vents at the back of the cavity rusting away, then they leak microwave energy, worth checking. Richard

These were certainly better quality than anything you can buy now. Just a note of caution. If you do open it up, make sure that you ground the big capacitor, just in case the bleed resistors are O/C! Mark |
