One went for £31 on eBay a few months ago. I guess you could offer say £50 if it's in really good cosmetic condition. It will probably need new belts and those infamous cork friction pads.

In my experience, having had several Tanberg machines, unlike Philips the belts don't turn to mush so no messy cleanup.
The pinch roller can go hard and slip which is a problem. The friction pads can be be made from 4mm cork coaster or better still cork and rubber gasket material. As long as it was left with the gate lever in 'free' and stored in a dry place then there should be no major problems. Without checking I think the XD is the dolby version and the performance is outstanding. If it really is as new, and I needed another, I would start at not less than £100 and probably go as high as £250. |

This is a single motor Tandberg based on the same mechanical control design they started using in the 50s. The stereo electronics and crossfield setup is thus some way ahead of the rather simple transport, IMHO.
As with many of these Tandbergs, there are a number of linkages which tend to seize up due to hardened grease. Some disassembly will be needed to remove and replace the grease. Then there are the spool clutches as mentioned already. Lets hope the pinch roller is okay. The belt is easily replaced and sourced. There may be some lockfits or low value caps in the preamps that can cause problems. For an unrestored deck like this I would say 50 notes is fair.
