One thing Dick Pascoe (one of the founders of Kanga kits) told me was that he'd sold a number of the dual directional wattmeter kits I'd designed for the G-QRP club (Sprat 61) to the BBC to setting up low power local broadcast transmitters. They can show forward and reverse power down to a watt, but that's too much for pantry transmitters unless you have a very large pantry. However, a s,all amplifier can be added between the 2-transformer hybrid bridge and the diode detectors for more sensitivity. Even better would be to use two of the Analogue Devices logarithmic detector ICs... these will give loads of sensitivity and a helpfully compressed scale.
