It still needed a bit of persuasion as the paint was holding the back in place.
The wire bundle has simply been cut. There is also a blank service record card inside, I guess it never needed servicing.

I appreciate that there is little you can do with only one unit, but here is the summary I drew up of how mine are interconnected (using DB15 connectors as a standard interface).

There are other units for sale at between £25 and £90 so I could get more and set up an intercom to each room but that is a slippery slope I had best avoid.
