Lab jack
I have seen various comments on the forum about using blocks of wood etc to prop up a chassis while working on it. Here is my solution. It is called a laboratory jack or lab jack. They are expensive new but can often be obtained quite cheaply on the second hand market.

I am sure I paid around £15 for mine.

Re: Lab jack
I made something similar out of Lego, which lurks somewhere on my bench for leaning chassis against. I guess for TVs you'd want something stronger. Like Meccano

Re: Lab jack
What luxury, although I'd prefer something non conductive.................
I have used piles of books, yoghurt pots, blocks of wood, rolls of solder and even cardboard boxes(slightly smaller than chassis being worked on -invert shassis and place inside, while sides of box support remainder of chassis.) Of course there's always the old standby a peice of wood.

Re: Lab jack
I now realise what is missing from my bench!
Added to that elastic "wish list" Thanks for the idea. Phil |
