Default Wayne Kerr AMS1

Could anyone point me in the direction of a Service or Instruction manual for a Wayne Kerr AMS1 audio measuring set?

Regards to all

Hello Geoff,
I've a AMS1 here (with the optional ABU1 - balanced in/out) and also have the operating/service manual. I can let you have a PDF of it, but it may take a while - over 100 pages with fold out sections.
If you're desparate and have a rough idea of what part of the circuit you need I can do a few pages a lot quicker.

Geoff and Mike,
I just obtained an AMS1 with ABU1 and a manual would be appreciated. Can any of you help me?

Regards,
Lennart

Hi Mike

Can I join the queue of people who want a copy of the info please.

I would be happy with just the circuit and perhaps component layouts. My AMS1 is working fine, but like a lot of things it is only a matter of time till it stops.

Hello Lennart And Brian,

Yes, can forward a scan of the AMS-1 Manual to you both if you can send me you e-mail address via PM (I'm not sure if Lennart has PM Privileges yet?)
I have a hand drawn circuit of the ABU-1 unit some where but may take some time to find! however this unit is relatively simple.

Regards

Hi Mike

PM sent

If Geoff and Lennard have PM problems, they could email me and I could pass on the details. I have an email contact address on the home page of my web site.

Today I received the AMS1 manual from WK and I am grateful because the equipment is 30 years old. However, no information was provided regarding the use of ABU1. If my PM doesn't work you will find an address on my hamradio web site.

Due to the new sections, PMs are now activated for all new Users. You should not have any problem with them.

I would also like a copy of WK AMS1. I have just obtained one of these which has been modified. It basically works but will need some TLC!

Thanks

Hello Chrissywissy,
If you send me your e-mail address via a PM I'll send a PDF of the handbook, I'm working away from home at present with limited internet access, but I'll see what I can do.

Regards
Mike A

Anyone have any info on the AMS1? Specs or User Manual perhaps?
I can't find any published docs online.

Just wondering how it compares with something like an HP334A for distortion measurements.

I managed to get a scanned PDF of the Operation & Measurement Manual from Wayne Kerr.

I was going to post as an attachment but it exceeds the maxiumum size allowed for PDF files.

The spec indicates the distortion from the inbuilt oscillator is 0.01% (15Hz-20kHz), so it's ok-ish but not that good compared to a Tektronix SG505 (0.0008%)

The max distortion sensitivity range on the meter is 0.03% FSD with an inherent distortion of 0.005%.

The inherent distortion in an HP334a (which has no built in signal source) is specified as -70dB (equivalent to 0.03%)

So I think the AMS1 would be quite a useful instrument if used with an external low distortion signal source.

Hi Brian. I'd love a copy of the manual. If I PM you with my email address perhaps you would be kind enough to send it to me?

Thanks

Chris

Guys,

I have an AMS1 too, and the full manual, if anyone is still looking and Chrissywissy can't help.
