HMV 900 - Pre War.
A very good friend of mine - Chris Gilby - in London has had a very lucky find. He saved a HMV 900 from being skipped.
He's chasing about for various bits, so if everyone who keeps such spares can look around, we'll see if we can rebuild it for him. At the moment it's at Gerry's and Gerry is now back to his normal self! He hopes to have a picture on it by the Summer Garden Party this year. PM me with whatever you have and I'll contact Chris. He will be at the do at Wigan tomorrow, so you can ask him about it there if you're going. Cheers, Steve P.

That's fantastic news. Can you give an idea of the parts needed so that we can all see if we have anything?

Re: HMV 900 - Pre War.
Met Chris yesterday at the Lowton meet.
Anyway - his 'wants' list: Sync Unit (Also fits 902 and Marconi 705) TV knobs - Brightness and Contrast. (Hexagonal) Escutcheon with cover for TV form, focus, width and height controls + the knobs. Back Cover (900 or 705). 6/6 CRT. (Gerry's set has no emission on his.) Advice on Repair / Restoration. Cheers, Steve P.

Re: HMV 900 - Pre War.
The sync unit consists of the TRF vision amplifiers and the timebases.
The pictures show the unit fitted into an HMV 902 receiver. The 41.5Mc/s sound signal was taken off after the second TRF stage and connected to the all-wave radio receiver. There it was converted to the standard 465Kc/s IF. Tuning drift can be a problem. Note the missing timebase valve. This was the "Baird" valve and it was fitted in early 240/405 line receivers. DFWB.
