View from hotel window...
I was a trip in the mountains and this photo of the scenery made me think of you... SWMBO didn't let me bring even one souvenir. Guess which I would have rescued?

Re: View from hotel window...
If it's anything like this country, looks like a tidy sum in disposal fees in that pile. - I hope they don't end up at the bottom of lake

Re: View from hotel window...
The only ones that I would take interest in would be the wood effect cased models . which look the same . look like late 1980s

Re: View from hotel window...
Shame I'm not closer. Don't think you'd get away with that lot as hold baggage on Easyjet, sadly!
Let's hope it gets to Freecycle, and not left there in the open to get ruined...maybe you could suggest it to the hotel in an email!

Re: View from hotel window...
I'm a sucker for real chipboard with genuine fablon. The were early 80's Philips sets. They were none remote KT3s. (or the following chassis) I'm in fact surprised they were in service this long.

Re: View from hotel window...
You have to remember that even now, many hotels use UHF or VHF distibution in their internal network. They have a series of decoders (sat or digital terrestrial) tuned to one channel each, then these are mixed and fed to the amplifiers. So non-digital sets are still used.

Re: View from hotel window...
I was more thinking the fact that the Philips sets are about 30 years old, and minimum 20 years out of fashion. They are probably not used as much as a set in a household would be and the tubes should be in good shape.

Re: View from hotel window...
This reminds me of that famous hotel comedy programme... where the view was not good enough... maybe the sets were all Fawlty?!
I'll get my coat... Rich.

Re: View from hotel window...
Not all old crt mountains go to landfill! Here at my dads firm we buy up all the old colour crt tvs we can find, usually less than £4 each thanks to the local auctioneers, and sell them to an exporter who ships them in shared containers to Africa where they're very grateful of them indeed.
Some of the TVs are shockingly decent and have been thrown out by their owners who have upgraded to IDTV; top-spec mitsubishis, thomsons, panasonics, sharps, hitachis etc, some widescreen, some oldies but goodies like Ferg TX90 / Philips CTX / Decca etc.

Re: View from hotel window...
This looks a bit more professional dealing with old CRT monitors but turn down the volume the music is naff!
