1 n set? (Clarified as a 19 set)
Just had a QSO with a chap in Dover (CW) and he gave the type of Transmitter as a "1 nset". I cant fathom what that is...any offers?

Re: 1 n set???
I've never heard of a "1 n" set David. I wonder if it's a 19 set and he was using the "cut number" abbreviation for 9 (=n).

Re: 1 n set???
Presumably a CW qso and where n is used for 9 making it a 19 set.
N is commonly used for 9 as in 599 or 5NN Jim Edit, Sorry Hugh didn't read your reply before hitting the keyboard. Last edited by G4XWDJim; 23rd Feb 2015 at 4:15 pm. Reason: As above |

Re: 1 n set???
Ian, G3ROO has an 18 set but no 19 set.
Ed, G8YXR has been using a 19 set recently. He's in St Margarets at Cliffe. Bruce M0SOE Deal |

Re: 1 n set???
Ah yes, a 19 set! I wasnt expecting a cut number in that sequence.
No, it wasnt ROO it was G8YXR, a new callsign to me. Thanks for helping clear that up D |

Re: 1 n set???
I associate St Margarets at Cliffe with a G2 who Ian introduced me to. We went round with one of my spectrum analysers to have a look into an interference problem. Dick Adelian? A very nice chap.

Re: 1 n set???
Hello David, sorry about that, just being lazy. In my defence, I should add that there was someone just arriving at the house by motorcar too. Thanks for the great QSO. I'm now rebuilding another 1N set (!) and hope to get it on the air in a few days. Perhaps we can cw again? This form of comms is a bit modern for me. QTH is Kingsdown by the way. 73 Ed
