Re: Help please - Prinz magnon duo convertible projector.
If you do get the films converted to some digital format, be sure to keep the original films....they'll likely outlast whatever digital media you choose.
Prinz was indeed Dixon's house brand for a lot of photographic equipment....a made up brand meant to sound vaguely Germanic. Most Prinz products are not the very best available at the time but are OK and should function without damaging your films as long as they're clean and functioning as intended. There is such interested these days in viewing old 8mm and super 8mm films that my local camera shops has a 70s Sankyo Duolux projector for hire. What annoys me about the mainstream media's use of flicker, "dust" specks and tramlines is that people think that's what 8mm film always looks like. Super 8 Kodachrome for example needs a professional HD transfer to get the most from it. Any video transfer will also need to take into account film speeds. 8mm was often shot at 16fps and super 8 at 18fps.....whereas for video transfer these need to be changed...slowed to 16 2/3 fps or sped up to 25fps. |
