Hoover Compressor
Looking as some of the posts on Hoovers and the like, I have a little compressor that I use from time to time.
Never seen another one before and I do prefer the older equipment to the modern stuff. A Hoover compressor. PYE drill speed controller, still new in box. Power inverter, also have a smaller one still in its box. May not all be that useful, but still keep picking things up from time to time. Have an Electrolux Z100 in the back of the the cupboard as I still use the old Kirby classic 3 for day to day work. |

Re: Hoover Compressor
That Hoover compressor looks like a large Hoover fridge compressor from a commercial chiller unit, That inverter or dynamotor looks quite beefy, I have one I took out of our OB truck at work, that is 12V DC in 220V AC out at 500w.

Re: Hoover Compressor
Hi Jay, the compressor looks bigger than it is, only about 60psi max and foot pedal operated.

Re: Hoover Compressor
One of the few good looking Kirbys made to date, mainly through it's colour, in it's nice Red colour (the other's being the north America-only Dual Sanitronic80 in Avacado Green, the Tradition in Royal blue, and the Generation5 in Burgundy), though the first three UK Kirbys (Classic Omega, CIII and Tradition) were only single-speed, with the US models being two speed from the Dual Sanitronic 50 to the present Sentria, though, I have converted my Tradition to two-speed using the field coil from a Heritage-series Kirby (they were 2-speed here in the UK from the Heritage onwards)...
That reminds me, I should rebuild my Kirby ClassicIII, just needs a replacement nozzle... |

Re: Hoover Compressor
Keith,
Dynamotors of the type in your picture are often sought-after by vintage military radio enthusiasts, as these devices were fitted in a range of WWII radios, notably the WS19. If it's taking up space and you don't need it, members of the Vintage Military & Amateur Radio Society VMARS may offer you silly money for it...
