Re: McMichael 5 valve transportable
Here are some pictures.
The back is made from 3/8 inch thick plywood (7 ply birch). Mine is shown with metal grilles: the original had brown cloth but it was torn beyond repair on my example. Key dimensions: Width 361mm Height 443mm Round finger-hole 22mm dia. The back locates in the top of the cabinet by means of two 1/4 inch dia. spigots on the top edge. It then clips ito place and is held in by means of two ball catches on each side. You should find the locating holes in the top of the cabinet and two metal brackets on the sides. Top spigots are 37mm in from the side edges, side ball catches are 64mm up from bottom edge (dimensions are to centres of spigots/balls). For the rest of the dimensions, print out a scale drawing and measure. |

Yes Mine looks just the same, it seems to have the same cloth over the back vents as it dose the speaker.

Re: McMichael 5 valve transportable
Hello,
Thanks for the information Steve and Terry. The pictures are excellent. It's just what I wanted. I'll have to go and search for the right plywood. (The modern far eastern plywood doesn't look right on old radios.) Yours, Richard |

If you can stain it correctly then it should look ok.
