Teasmaid
I have this Hawkins TECAL 3000B, I believe it dates from around 1955. I have seen a picture on the net of its lamp shade 4 sided rectangle shade tied together at the corners. Can anyone help me reconstruct the shade? What was it made out of? Help with sizes? Any one have advertising for it ? John.

Re: Teasmaid
Hi John,
It is indeed a Tecal LGH3000. The shade seems to be like some of the Goblin Teasmades so might be possible to make one if nothing's found. Shades were a sort of parchment. Try http://www.dannells.com/lampshade-ma...pplies-1-c.asp

Re: Teasmaid
That square framed shade is evocative of what many people used to make back in the 50s when I was a kid. I remember the parchment being cut to size, holes punched and the parchment being laced together at the corners with plastic 'thread' rather like 'hook-up wire with no wire in it.
Mike has highlighted Dannell's, who look like a helpful outfit and about the only UK supplier I could find. A couple of UK sources of parchment are here: http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/lampshad...t-natural.html https://www.jim-lawrence.co.uk/candl...im-10can15pact I dare say that you could make your own frame to the desired size based on pictures, by using 2.5mm steel wire (EG, fence supporting wire with the galvanising filed off at the joints), brazing the frame at the corners, then spraying it cream or whatever. Hope that helps a bit John.
