Default 12V, mains TV valve, superhet!

I find this extremely cool. I wonder how far this concept has been explored?

Very clever design, it just goes to show how versatile valves can be, especially at so low an HT supply.

Unsurprisingly the audio output is very low, but it's an interesting proof of concept.

Hi.
Very similar to the valve car radio headunits available in the 60's. The op from the set would drive an OC16 or a little chip output stage with ease!

I had one of those in my Vauxhall Cresta and it had remarkably good audio for a single ended output stage. Pye TRC1000?

Yes most likely, the horns are very efficient but not particularly good fidelity.
