Down the Tubes (closed and abandoned TV factories)
Interesting website called Weburbanist following 10 closed down and abandoned TV factories around the world.
Not huge but 3 pages of interesting pictures and information. https://weburbanist.com/2018/04/08/d...-tv-factories/

Wow, fascinating
Love the photo of the robot at the Sanyo factory just sitting there, idle. Those robots must of cost a fortune, and presumably could be repurposed for other things. I was trying to find out about some of the old Sony CRT factories recently. The large factory in Ichinomiyia (Japan) that made all the broadcast monitors, is now owned by Konami, and the plant in Pencoed, Wales, now makes raspberry pi’s ! This video shows one of the last production runs at Rancho,USA: https://youtu.be/yNkIgVwr_nQ It’s quite rare to see this, as there’s normally a lot of secrecy around the actual production and techniques used. |
