Akai X-330D Remote Control Plug
Hi,
I have an Akai X-330D that has the remote dummy plug missing. Does anyone know which pins are required to be shorted to enable the transport mechanism to operate. Thanks David |

Re: Akai X-330D Remote Control Plug
HiFi Engine has the service manual and the owner's manual for this model. You might find the information by reading one or both. You just need to register.
I have here an Akai 280 with a remote dummy plug but not sure if it's the same as your model. Tim |

Re: Akai X-330D Remote Control Plug
Hi Tim,
I already have both the service & the owners manual for this machine, downloaded from Hifi Engine. Unfortunately no info on the dummy plug in either manual, & the schematics aren't clear on where the links should go. Also other Akai models have different wiring on their remote socket, so there doesn't seem to be a standard. I believe Akai GX-280(D/D-SS), GX-285, X-360D, GX-365D and GX-370D machines have pins 1-11 & 5-6 shorted so I'll check their service manuals & see if I can use that info to work out the corresponding pins on the X-330D that require shorting. Regards David |

Re: Akai X-330D Remote Control Plug
In the Akai Schematic Diagram Register 084, the schematic diagram 13818544
for sys con 10R 139A 2ed , Mecha & Power Supply shows Remote Socket 0601 but pin 11 is not connected. The schem. for the 280 D shows pin 11 earthed. Examination of photos in the instruction manual figs. 8, 9, 11 and 56, showing the remote control being attached do not show the dummy plug, nor is removal mentioned. Perhaps on that model there is no need for the dummy plug. Now I'll dream about those ( redacted) machines from long ago.

Re: Akai X-330D Remote Control Plug
Hi,
The user manual (page 30) for the X-330D states that the dummy plug must be inserted if the remote control is not connected. I’ve been trying to make sense of the schematic with respect to the remote control socket but it is quite different to other Akai models. |

I am looking at the schematic presently too. You must have a different
operators book. Below are what is in the one from Hi Hi Fi engine. I have three Akai beasts in the room right here. One is an Akai 365-D Rather dusty. And hope it says that way.

Hi Steve,
The user manual for the X-330D, (downloaded from Hifi Engine), is slightly different to the X-330, as can be seen from the attachments. Regards David |

Re: Akai X-330D Remote Control Plug
Akai models with a "D" suffix do not have built-in speaker amplifiers, i.e. line out only.
