Sony HMP 70 problem
So I bought a Sony HMP 70. It kind of works.
However the disc runs a bit low, make a small sound and the return mechanism doesn’t function. I’m aware about the thrust washer problem. I don’t know though what material and the size of the washer to use. Or how to put it there. Do I have to losen the turntable an put it upside down? And then what? Could someone help out a newbie please? |

Hi and welcome. There was a post in 2017 on this model, from Mr dimples, if you do a search you should find it.

Re: Sony HMP 70 problem
Thank you for your answer.
However I’ve already read it and I still don’t understand how I’ll manage to put on a washer. I have also looked at old manuals. Maybe I have to remove the turnable and put it upside down to take off the spindle? Well that’s why I have to ask |

Re: Sony HMP 70 problem
Thank you for the link.
I’ll look under the white cog at once, seems to be a lot easier than open up the turnable underneath. |

Re: Sony HMP 70 problem
Well, I got distracted there a minute from putting a thrust washer on the spindle...
The good news is that I just received a nylon washer. I feel I don’t have the skills to open up the turnable...so I did a cut on the washer and pressed it on the spindle...and now it works perfect; no strange sounds and it rejects automatically. |
