Two mono = One stereo amplifier
I had two mono amps EL84 in push pull , I had this idea of building a low cost stereo amp , I encapsulated all the transformers in aluminium boxes, a Baxandall tone control circuit was fitted what a difference that made. I am very pleased with the looks and sound of the finished amplifier, the total cost was about £120, excluding labour of course. What to build next I keep thinking KT66's . Mick.

Re: Two mono = One stereo amplifier
Hi Stephen that is for a good reason , after potting the mains tx's the last thing I wanted is a short on the HT / LT damaging the transformer . Mick.

Re: Two mono = One stereo amplifier
I like it*, if it were mine I would need at least some of the knobs labeled!
*Despite my comments upon exposed valve audiofile things where style goes over safety, this is a superb example of a proper home brew job. All of mine have exposed valves because it it easier to do, and they look nice. |

Neat! I'm kinda inspired to do something similar over the winter.

Re: Two mono = One stereo amplifier
Excellent job! Far better than my old cutlery box amp!
Well constructed, neatly wired & (as others have already said) a goodly amount of fuses! Definite thumbs up, well done.

Re: Two mono = One stereo amplifier
Looks great - just think what a 12W+12W valve stereo amp will cost new, £700-00+.
