Second thoughts about the metal sub-frame. Without it the chassis is somewhat flexible which could impose too much strain on the neck of the CRT when the chassis lifted off the bench prior to reinstallation in the cabinet.
The same rule applies when the chassis is removed from the cabinet for servicing.
The right angle at the front of the sub-frame will be cut off. See attachment.
Doing this will make the underside of the frame completely flat which will allow the chassis to be slid in and out the cabinet more easily. Countersunk screws will be used to attach the frame to the chassis.

The right angle front edge of the chassis frame has been cut off and repainted in BMW Mini Old English White.

Hi.
Well the HMV 2807 is now complete with a nice bright tube ready to watch Her Majesty and the televised Christmas message at 3pm on the 25th of December. All being well I'll give the set pride of place in the living room and record the video for posterity.

I'm still unsure what prize you are putting up Bob?
Perhaps an unstuffed 0.1uf cap from a DAC90A or a restuffed one as a super duper prize
Or perhaps you'll go to the winner and sing Christmas Carols?
Anyway it's just a bit of fun to cheer up the long nights and dull days.
