Alas the poor Chelsea is unwell. A brief raster when slowly powered up and then a whisp of smoke from the line stage.

It now has very low EHT on the tag to the doubler input ( even with the doubler disconnected ) and one of the windings on the LOPT is getting very hot.

A request in the parts wanted section could be my next post!

What a find though, l thought those kind of "behind the TV shop treasure troves" had long disappeared.

l remember when l was a kid l would often go behind the local TV shops to see what they'd left outside, and l would take all the valves out of any sets that l found.

The valves usually ended up being thrown at my garage wall.

Sorry to hear that Mick. I hope you find a LOPT for it. I have had a bit of luck with the A774 as Neil has offered a back cover for it. I ran it for a little longer today, it won't tune in to my VCR. I think one of the tuner buttons is sticking, probably one of the cams has broken up and jammed. I will have to take it out and check. I don't think that is the only problem as far as lack of signals is concerned though as the raster is blank with no snow. Once I fix the tuner I will see if I have any sound .
I need to investigate some fizzing and sizzling first though, it is the same sort of noise you get from a damp anode cap but the noise is coming from the LOPT area so it's a bit worrying.
Rich.

Wow that brings back a childhood memory for me...
I used to pull valves from sets left outside too, at Telebond in Bristol!
Great days....

The no signal problem could be 2VT2 in the cascode amp can, a BF123 because i had the same blank raster problem with my V2016S.

Cheers
Neil.

The CT72 was hauled onto the bench this evening with its tube donor by its side ready for transplant!

This is a bit risky as the B&K tells me that all three guns are "bad" but as I said to Rich, it's got to be better than the one that's in there!

Hopefully some better progress than the CT200 is in store over the coming weekend.

Apologies for my dirty workshop mirror!

Cheers,

Mick.
