Default Help Needed: JVC System identification

Hello!

I am just starting my trip in vintage audio system restoration and I am really excited!
I have bought an old JVC system (pictures attached) but after I got it home I realised that there's no information about the model! The system works but I have not yet run a full test on it.
Judging from the white mesh on it's right back side, I may not be the first one who is trying to get into this unit and I am afraid that that's where the model sticker should be, but it is removed now.

Are there any member who could help me identify this unit? Or point me to any resources?

Thank you very much!!!

That mesh does not look original. It may have been fitted by a previous owner. This is a "budget" system from the early 1970s. The autochanger looks like a re-badged BSR "C" series unit - e.g. C129. This is a low- to mid-range product and not normally seen within the UK market.

What's printed on the label partially obscured by the mesh?

Hello.

Nothing that would point to the model. Just voltage and fuse ratings. I will post a picture once I get a chance - I am not close to the system now.

It's similar to this one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Vint...MAAOSwaA5WjxSi but it isn't it.

Wow!
I had one of these about 10 years ago, I am afraid I cannot help you with the model number great example of early 1970s 4 channel Japanese audio, good luck with your search.

Thanks for the reply!
The system seems to be in good shape and functioning. I have not done a full test though.
Do you have any service tips or any other advice?
Thanks again!

You might want to give it a clean up inside. Dust isn't too good for electronics. Servisol products are good for cleaning electronics. There one called Aero Duster and of course Servisol Switch Cleaner.

Had a thought; you might find model info on the PCB. Also finding a date off components like caps, IC's etc will hope narrow things down. A search for JVC catalogues or other promotional material of the era might also be of use. the other thing would be to look for online scan's of Greek Hifi mags, again of the era.

I am trying to find any resources (ie, sites) with product catalogs from the 70'.
I will check the PCB when I get into the chasis, but judging from the typical practices of that time, I am not expecting much

Thank for the advice!

As stated, this sort of unit is typical of the Japanese kit form the period - Sony, Sanyo, Nat-Panasonic and others made very similar things. When used with a good set of 2 way speakers it will sound very nice, certainly way better than the currently available plastic stuff. Display looks nice too.

The deck is not like any BSR I have seen. Maybe a Glenburn AT100 or similar judging by the placing of the controls. Looks like a magnetic cartridge is fitted - any indication on it?

The deck mechanism may need some cleaning and relubrication to remove old hardened grease and minor adjustments like arm setdown may need a tweak- see the sticky threads on here on autochangers.
