This is a copper pipe near my central heating pump.
It has a golden copper colour to it. This was done by polishing to a mirror finish using Brasso then many hours of heating and cooling resulting in the gloss deep golden finish. |

Here's the final result, using the boiled-egg technique.
I boiled the egg for 10 minutes, removed the shell and chopped up the egg in a jam jar. The pointer was polished with Brasso, then further cleaned in IPA and dried. I suspended it in the jar above the chopped egg, screwed on the lid and left it. After just 5 minutes I had the desired result (leaving it longer over-egged the pointer but I just cleaned-off and repeated). On removal, I sprayed with a few light coats of acrylic lacquer. |
