Hello Martin, that 565 is a hefty bit of kit.
How big is it compared to a 545?
I hope the crt is ok.
I picked up a Telequipment D54 today from another kind forum member, I look forward to repairing it.
Regards, Rob.

hello Rob,

545 = 320mm,
565 = 430mm. The CRT is allready.

To compare, 565 + 556 like to have the big size car, see picture of my 556.

Telequipment is nice. I have restored a S51B, and now to restore, the same as 2 channel.

greetings
Martin

Hi Martin,

I must ask. How many oscilloscopes do you own?

my wife says: too much ...

now repair+restoration of a knott "large picture scope for low frequencies"
The 4 dual channel plugins are good for 8 inputs.
This unit weight around 100 pounds and is warm.

I am burning to see the beam of this Knott !

It needs to get 10 large elko, one tube EL86 (i must give him a pair, pp)
and there is a shorting in the low voltage area of psu, small problem.
All in all, 100 euros.

The CRT looks like fresh made, absolutely clean, no burn in.
The size is 43cm picture. And the phosphor P25, orangeyellow, extremly slowly (like a radar screen)

tubes are ordered, waiting. I hope on weekend the Knott will wake up.

greetings
Martin

Hi everyone

I've just found my copy of 'Operation and Servicing Manual' for HP1701

It'll take me a while to scan it in .. Once done, I'll be putting it on the BAMA site and will update the forum accordingly.

Cheers,

Guy

hello John,

310A is a graethful little Tek.
Wash the knobs with windows cleaner fluid and a old tooht brush.
This scopes have no fan, what means no filter. They must be cleaned inside all 2 years.

greetings
Martin

Hi Martin,

I was hoping you would be pleased. I love your "dual trace" setup.

Thanks for all the information you have posted on this forum about these instruments. I don't think I would be as confident if you hadn't shared all your successes.

The scope is nice and clean inside. No sign of repairs or trouble. The design and construction is a pleasure to look at. I will replace all the HV "black beauties" before I power up.

Keep it glowing

John

lol

a 310A Dual Trace Setup is to build:

1x 310A
1x 132
1x 1A1 or like that

put the 1A1 in the 132 and connect it to the 310 A

2x310A is a Dual Beam Setup.

greetings
Martin

hello friends,

I want to talk about a special one from Tek...
Friday I got a 535A in very fine condition.

About this scope I can say: The Beam is exiting ! very sharp and powerful, also in the last step of the timebase, it have 2 time bases, so it can display parts from amplitude also, see...
It is onlya 15MHz scope, but the quality you get there is absolutely amazing.
To give an old 535A its home is more then a good idea, it will work a lot.

greetings
Martin

a little SONY Tek accu portable, 305DMM, found it in the bay.
Complete with jacket and small book.

Dual Channel 5MHz + DMM DC AC R

This a problem with the Multimeter, found a bad IC mos 4052. ordered 5pcs for small pay.. an easy restoration. The accus are fresh and powerful.

Hi Martin,

thanks for sharing. The big Teks are fabulous and legendary. I hope your house has strong floors. Your pictures are always great to see.

The little Sony Tektronix is very cute. I like your 323 better and might put my eye on one of those next.

I will not be happy until I have a 310a "dual beam" setup. Sorry for getting that wrong.

with respect

John

An update for interest (errata / acquisitions / progress):

Errata: amend reference to 2 x HP1700 - should read 2 x HP 1740

Acquired: 1x Tek 7613 inc. 2 x 7A18, 1x 7B53AN (thanks, Phil )

Progress:

Clean-up of 7613 / plug-ins ongoing. Timebase rate/delay selection switch contacts (rotary and
'push-pull') all need attention. Proper cleaning strips are to hand for this (I disregarded Maplin staff suggested use of 'Wet or Dry' paper ... !!)

1 x HP1740 working straight away out of long-term storage - discovered original operator's manual and a 10041A probe inside the leatherette storage pouch ... !

2nd 1740 inspection showed overheating of multipin connector on power board plus many dry joints - overhauled connector assemblies, de/resoldered pcb-side pins and instrument repowered successfully. I noted flaring of trace when Y-shifted to near top of screen; the aluminium frame shows signs of impact damage so the CRT may need replacing in the long-term :-\

Cleaned front panels of both 1740s using "Mr Muscle" window cleaning fluid (green) plus old toothbrush/cotton buds ... my goodness, they were mucky! x-(

1 x HP1701 - this initially powered up OK but trace failed after half an hour, having developed what looks like a corona breakdown problem somewhere in the EHT unit. A rare 'scope, as it's fitted with a VITS line trigger board option (to BBC spec -it has a "J.E.P" [John Packman]-originated A5 label in the instrument lid).

Hope this is considered thread-worthy

Guy
