Tek 515A (the new case one)
the painting Co made a mistake in the color selection. May be I will repeat that to get a true türkis ( ~RAL6015, Tek blue). But it looks very nice, my self made Case... greetings Martin Last edited by 6AL5W-Martin; 9th Jan 2012 at 8:29 pm. |

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
For anyone interested, I got Tek blue colour and matt texture matched some years ago by Paints4u. I have no idea whether they still have the formulation on file, but anyone interested drop me a PM and I'll look out the details.
I got it both in spray cans, and in a tin with the correct thinners for paint spray application. |

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
Oscilloscopes are like landrovers: you always end up with more than you need.
I've got four My best one is a Gould 4030 DSO the reserve one is a Scopex 4D10B which I have had from new and the other two are just taking up space one is a sevicscope type D31 in need of some attention I think the other one is a Tek but the label is missing. It is transistor, has a central modual with a plugin unit either side the central modual is numbered 7200 Display unit. to the left is a two channel input numbered 7212 And to the right is a timebase numbered 7202 What is it? also it has a 6 pin plug in the back for the mains input. Does anybody know what the connections are and where I might get a suitable socket? I rescued it from somewhere with one of the side moduals bent, straitened it out, but have never tried to put power on to it. Geoff |

Er - I'm at 17 Tektronix 'scopes and counting. And that is the tip of a very large test equipment iceberg. My wife, as I often remind her, is a saint.

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
Sounds like a Dynamco, dual trace and delayed sweep plug ins.

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
I've cropped the two side moduals out of the original photo so as to get the detail.
There's a calibration due label for june 1980 and I think it is British made. |

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
That's definitely not a Tektronix. I agree with Rob that it's a Dynamco.

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
Definitely Dynamco, this was the follow on from the popular 71xx series.

I'm also blessed with a saint that can tell when a new addition to my inventory arrives. Got to learn and keep the car boot closed.

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
Dynamco 7200. A very niece little portable scope, with 7 x 5 screen, to 15 Mhz.
Manual is dated 1969. Also appears as Post Office type 14A, with dual trace, twin TB. Priced in March 1973 at £435 for single TB, and £485 for twin TB. Particularly good small Brimar tube with mesh pda; D10-210, or GEC/MOV 974W. Geoff_n asks about the power connector. It is a 6 pin Bulgin type P427 chassis male socket, for mains (A= line, B = neutral, C= earth) and from the add-on DC converter (D = AC,E = earth, F = AC, being 24-0-24V or so at 80Hz). Pins are usually marked, but they go from A in order, counting clockwise from the indent, looking onto the P428 cable female plug. A quick check with the ohmmeter will confirm. A to B, via the fuse and on/off switch to the transformer primary. Changing the mains setting 110/250 will change the resistance. C and E to chassis. D & F go to the secondary windings on the transformer, part of the winding which feeds the 20V bridge rectifier for the +-20V rails. Bill m0wpn |

(1) Sneak it in, and set it up. When the inevitable question is asked, the response is "Had it for ages - surprised you haven't seen it" (2) Use the existence of an overflow lock-up. "Just pulled it from the lock-up to restore" Of course the awkward question that is difficult to answer is "Now - where are you going to put it" Craig PS she also reminds me that there is a fine dividing line between "hobby" and "mental illness". I remind here that it could be worse - I could be into military vehicles or traction engines. |

Re: Oscilloscope Collection / Junky
Thanks Very much to Bill for the info on my Dynamco and to the other lads who helped identify it.
I will have a go at getting it going soon, but I shall have to reform some caps before I power it up. The low voltage AC input could be quite usefull. I sometimes need a scope in odd places such as a farmyard or a quarry. so the ability to run the scope from the Landrover battery would be better than trying to use the often dodgey mains in a farmyard. I tried using the Gould on an inverter once and got a shock everytime I touched it. So I soon gave that up. Cheers for now Geoff |
