Default Ear we go

Some things I picked up on my travels, Pretty much of no use any more or for what they were made for, But can maybe be used as an extension speaker for a radio or telephone of the same era.

My wife is deaf, but she didn't seem to want them.

Rather splendid things, "for the lady" I guess!

I suppose the idea was that you'd press the earpiece to your ear when you wanted to hear something, as with an old ear trumpet. The attached amplifier probably wasn't portable but you could use such a thing sitting in your armchair at home.

Or maybe using a pair of headphones would mess up the ladies' coiffeur ?

A number of local churches still have the 2 pin sockets attached to the back of some of the pews for these.

The two the same are made by General Acoustics in the US and the one with the volume control is a British Acousticon, I suspect they are 1920's.
I may find a use for them, you never know.

These would have been used with the Ardente church amplifier. I remember seeing one permanently wired to the back of a pew in Bath Abbey for the exclusive use of Lady Jepp.

I have a unit somewhere and a couple of the 'ear sets' but have never used them in anger. They came from a local theatre which had sockets around the walls.

I have been picking up some electrical odds and ends lately, not of any use to me, but its the type of thing I like.
