Here's another 'find', a poster advertising The Radio Times. The question for our history specialists, is when was it printed. BBC2 started in 1964, and The radio channels were re-branded 1-2-3-4 in 1967. I was a regular radio listener in those 'dim dark days', but I don't remember a "Music Programme" Any Ideas?

the poster is 75x50cm.

I vaguely remember that, in the early 1960's the BBC had something called "Network 3" that used the Third Programme frequency during the hours that the Third was not broadcasting, transmitting music different from the contemporaneous Third Programme material. Perhaps it was a different name for that.

My recollection is that, before the 1960's, the Third did not normally broadcast during the day, other than test match commentaries (the only times I tuned to the Third as a schoolboy).

Yes as 'Em' has said the Third network had several identities; I remember "Study on Three", an early forerunner of the O.U. The jackfield at B.H. feeding Davetry 648KHz must have had plenty of action in those days.

The publication is obviously pre-September 1967 but post 1964. I agree with the previous two posts ref the 'Third Network'. Back in those days there were a few 'specialist' programs on the Third one of which was a Jazz program. These were generally late at night so the Music Program was probably one of them.

I'm sure that the third did general sports coverage on Saturday afternoons in the mid 60s.

Back in those days, and the early days of Radio 4, it was not uncommon to find music on the Home Service though, IIRC, it tended to be well known classical or orchestral music.
