What type of connector is this?
Can anyone tell me what the corrrect name for this type of connector is please?
The wire is held trapped when the is cover screwed on, and is not soldered or crimped. I have tried searching for Wander/Spade/Post/etc on the usual sites, but can't find them. I need to locate some for use with some old test equipment. |

Re: What type of connector is this?
They are called spade terminals - at least by RS Components / Radiospares - who sold them in "the good old days"!

Re: What type of connector is this?
I call these Hook Terminals. A Google search for hook terminals shows that Mouser lists similar items under that name.

Re: What type of connector is this?
RS do still have a range but it seems you have to search for Male Banana Plug Screw
Rather expensive, mind

Re: What type of connector is this?
I can't see anything spade like about them, same goes for the spade connectors in the RS catalogue picture.
Hook connector makes more sense to me. Lawrence. |

Re: What type of connector is this?
I've always heard them referred to as 'spade'. I think they derive from the time they were used to connect to the LT accumulator terminals.

Re: What type of connector is this?
I always knew them as spade terminals but there is another variant which is straight. The hooked variety was less likely to became detached from the terminal by accident.

A lot of the connectors that are called a spade connector aren't shaped like a spade, they are shaped like a fork, I would class a spade connector as the type that has a spade shaped blade like what was used in the automobile industry. The OP's connectors remind me of a hook shape. Lawrence. |
