Grundig 650 motor tuning problem
A Grundig Satellit 650 works fine on all bands except for the following problem. In motorised mode the set is supposed to drive the tuning cap and dial pointer to a recalled stored station or just dialled in frequency by the keypad. The motor runs and the tuning cap and dial pointer are moved when either of those are initiated, however, the effect is random, the set does not 'go to' the selected station but the motor moves the dial pointer about 2 to 3cm in the left hand direction, never the other other way. If I manually set the pointer at the far right hand side of the dial, each attempt to motor to a station or frequency results in that same amount and direction of movement with each attempt until it finishes up on the far left, it won't go from left to right. The set was previously owned so I can't rule out gremlins.

Re: Grundig 650 motor tuning problem
I think the 650 is more or less identical to the 600, which I have. My understanding is that it only controls the preselector (RF tuning) on AM bands.
I have never attempted to align mine, so not sure how well it can be done. Mine is miles off. Basically, I press the button, it races to where it thinks it should be, and I "un-press" the button, and fine tune for optimum on the tuning dial. If I eventually get the second set, bought here as a non-runner, fixed, I will do a full MW alignment and see how it behaves. If anybody thinks I have got it wrong, please tell me. I suppose I should go and check the instruction book and service manuals to be certain. Les. Last edited by MotorBikeLes; 23rd Sep 2020 at 7:55 pm. Reason: bough to bought |
