Default UHF Agile Modulator

made by shinybow ...? Just got one of these from Maplains , just under £20 and i can now watch digital through my 80s Kitchen tv connected through this device and to its aeriel , provision for connecting a recorder to the box too
I expect there is an easier or cheaper way to convert the older scartless tv , but this works very well

Is it better than a video recorders modulator? I've been running my freeze veiw box and DVD players through the modulators of 3 old video recorders far from ideal. I gave away the only TV I had modern enough to have a scart socket wasn't sorry to see the back of it either my 33 year old G8 is vastly superior and i get all that exercise getting up to change channels I supose what I really need is a 4 channel UHF modulator for when the days of real television transmission come to an end

I dont know if its better than a vid recorders modulator , probably not but its alot smaller than having a redundant vcr in line where i dont want one . I only have one vidio recorder floating about at mo and i use it along with dvd for 405 stuff.
Have you removed the parts from the machine and boxed it up smaller , that sounds a good idea if so.

I have a SLRF model, sold by CPC for about £30. It has SCART and phono inputs, and appears to do stereo sound. Tunes to any UHF channel by means of DIP switches, and has a tuning pattern built in. Works very well on the ouput of my FOTH box!

Good idea never thought of that could quarter the size of them or build them all into one box

How about using an old satellite box? Pace models since the 9000 series have a modulator that tunes over the full UHF band.

Thats how I do it...I have two PRD 800s in the loft used to distrubute the security cameras around the place, and an MS1000, under the telly, which serves a twofold purpose; one for surround sound and the second to enable the DVD recorders output to be added to the rf distribution system.
