Hi Eckhard, yes of course. A pure synchron signal is at Pin 1 of the LM 1881.
You should place an emitter follower at it's output.

Kind regards

Hi, I made a little drawing attached how an emitter follower looks like.

The LM1881 has a lot of usefull outputs:

Pin 1 negative going composite sync output

Pin 3 negative going vertical sync output

Pin 5 Burst/ Back Porch output

Pin 7 odd/even frame detect output

At the 74121 you have a vertical blanking output,
positive going at pin 6 and negative going a pin1.

If you don't need the colour trap L1 C16/17 Q12 can operate as
an open collector inverter, input at JP7.

Kind regards
Darius

Hi Darius, thanks a lot! Today I have time for soldering, and your changes seems easy to realise.

To ppppenguin: only the line output unit used valves. All other units are transistorised. But there is no IC. On some capacitors I read the time stamp of 2/69.
A switch for external or internal sync is not identified. Unusual are -18 volts at the grid of the crt. I would expect 60 - 80 volts positive here, and the brightness control has no effect. I will check the path of the brightness control current.

Kind regards
Eckhard

Some words about Macrovision and the UVB.

Removing Macrovision is illegal.
The UVB does not remove Macrovision.
It limits the bright parts during the V- blanking periode to ensure that the vertical flyback is not visible on vintage TV sets.
Macrovision is still present after the UVB and will be detected form DVD recorders etc.

Kind regards
Darius

I'll sent it in a big registred letter.
Sent to Germany 3,05 Euros; EU 4,55 Euros; Worldwide 6,05 Euros
and the 18 Euros for the kit.
For example airsure to USA costs 24,05 Euros.
It is possible to pack two kits in one big letter.

Kind regards
Darius

Darius is this kit sill available?
It'll be nice to be able to watch TV with out all the junk in the flyback

Big Whoopee.

There are add-on boxes that do just that. I have one of them. Enables me to make videotape copies of DVDs or other macrovision encoded videotapes if I were so inclined.

However its primary purpose is to stabilize the video enough so I can feed it through an RF modulator and then tune in on my television through VHF channel 3.

Good morning,

the UVB makes only sense with NTSC or PAL vision signals.
And it is able to add the (V-) sync pedestals that were common
in USA 525 and german 625.

In 405 you don't have to remove teletext or colour. This should be done by your standard converter.
If you want to build a modulator it makes sense for every standard. It is able to make the biasing for an NPN or PNP "transconductance modulator".

In 405 a V-sync pedestal reduces vertical flyback lines too.

Kind regards
Darius
