Interesting Tesco store.
I found this shop in London, at least Tescos haven't destroyed the signs. It is at the juction of the A315 and B363 near Brentford.

Re: Interesting Tescos
Yes, well done Tescos for retaining the period signage. If only all their conversions were as sensitive.

Re: Interesting Tescos
It just needs a small corner with the odd portable radio/tv and a few batteries and cables from somewhere in the wider Tescos range and it would even be meaningful....

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
..It may of course have been a condition of the purchase/lease/conversion- it must reduce their visual impact to the passer-by when the shop is seen from oblique angles. I do not find that they are traditionally a great respecter of heritage unless they are told to be. Dave

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
Tesco will do anything to get a store location including making new land out of thin air.
However things do not always go smoothly for them. Train services were cancelled because there was a Tesco superstore on the lines. It was a better excuse than leaves on the lines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrards_Cross_Tunnel |

Funny thing is I live round the corner from there and drive past it about 20 times a week and didn’t even notice! Going to specsavers I think

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
I got the picture from Google Earth, the next time I am near there (I am a serial visitor to the Kew Steam Museum) I will take some proper ones. May well pop inside to see the layout too. I do wonder what is behind the Tesco sign.

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
It's embarrassing that the Victorians managed cut and cover technology when starting the London underground, yet we fouled up the 'cover' bit of it all this time later. By rushing it, presumably.

Tesco did a good job converting the old Hoover building at Perivale. J.

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
I remember it as Ketts, as I have lived not far away for 70 years!.
Never been in the shop though. Nice to see the old bicycle and radio signs back, wonder of Tesco get any people going in the shop for a bike! John |

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
I see no "signage" on the bit that the Tesco logo covers, well done Tesco.
I bet someone will complain that they can't get "Cycles Accessories Radios Televisions" in the store. I have just 'phoned Tesco and indeed you can't get them delivered to that shop (or any Tesco Express) but you can to home, complaint rejected! Quote:

Re: Interesting Tesco store.
I wonder what they'd say if I went in there and asked for an ECC85 or an EM84 or even better a PX4!
