PZ30 failure Bush TV22.

I have a number of used ones that look terrible! Black and with burnt areas above the heaters deposited on the glass and they rattle.
They work 100% !

That sounds like the one in my TV12
I reckon if you get a good one they will last many years.
As John says, the PL38 is a sturdy valve that seldom fails. I have never needed to replace one yet.

If ever a TV22 goes through PL38 and PZ30 valves it is worth checking the line drive.
I would reccomend replacing the ECL80 with a new one.
Poor line drive will mean that the PL38 will be biased on most of the time.

I would not worry about the valve damaging the lopty. It is usually the other way round, in that in the TV22, if it eats PL38 valves it usually means that the lopty is very rusty and running hot...

Hi Silicon thanks no dry joints and all the valves were replaced with NOS. Reservoir caps replaced and correct. Thanks for the pointers. Appreciated.

Beery Thanks I feel better about the LOPT now, when I got the22 it had a dead one amongst other things. The ECL80 was new at the same time as the PZ30 and PL38.

Hi Howard. I wasn't thinking of Gerry actually he was one of the ones that had slipped my memory but I did a google search and Langrex came up and being a familier name clicked on the link and up came a page etc. it was headed Langrex. As I said very very strange.
I did get onto their site later and could not repeat what happened originally.
I don't know what happened!!

If you have that many "duffers" then perhaps you should make some festive series connected lights from them and hang them round the workshop!
I'd like to see a picture of that!
