Default Marconiphone P17B

I'm restoring this radio and have it lashed up and working okay on a temporary long piece of wire but the frame aerial in the lid is missing from the set for some reason.

Does anyone have details of what it should look like so that I can make up a replacement. Details such as length and gauge of wire, turns needed and rough overall dimensions would be useful.

Photos would be useful too?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I can't find my inductance meter

Cheers

It's not easy to get into the lid for access to the loop aerial- there are several iffy looking rivets to be removed.....

However you do have the advantage that it's a simple flat coil loop around the outside of the top. You could wind more turns than you need and remove them until it just tunes the LF end of MW with the gang fully closed.

The original connections into the set are some kind of flat (steel?) strip which may need some ingenuity if they're missing.

Thanks guys for the info. The photo is very useful ...looks like there about 16 turns on the thing. Luckily the rivets are easily removed so I can access the lid okay and the two metal strips are in good order. Winding a flat coil like that will be interesting!!!!

On a bit of card covered in double sided tape with a centre "bobbin" of more card. Simply apply by hand, when the right number of turn is found varnish it and unstick.
