Scratchy tone adjustment on a Portadyne record player
Hi,
Just bought a working record player but the tone knob screeches (volume OK). Can I take the inside cover off and clean anything to correct this please. Also no ID as to a model number, sorry. Overall in good condition, record changer works fine although arm has the occasional short travel to a single. Lastly what's best to clean the outside as a little grubby. Thanks Ian Whoops, when I click upload file nothing happens so no pictures afraid? |

You need to use a "Servisol 10" aerosol spray cleaner on the tone control potentiometer.
Ensure you find the small slit in the casing and spray into that. Then wriggle the control to distribute the cleaner. Do this with the mains plug REMOVED as I suspect this player will have a "live" chassis.
