Ekco 350
I just purchased this radio from ebay simply because i liked the look of it and i think with a bit of time and effort it will clean up pretty well. I paid £20 for it maybe too much i dont know, it is described as working (take that with a pinch of salt).
I know the name EK COLE and i assume this was built in japan under the Pye brand but i thought PYE stopped using the EKCO brand in the early seventies, this set from what i can find out is 1978. Does anybody have any experience of this set? any help would be welcome. Thanks |

Re: Ekco 350
I don’t recognise it but we were selling mostly ITT radios around that time. If you are happy with the price that’s all what matters, we all have our value of items.
Enjoy getting it sorted and using it.

Update, radio just arrived, in nice condition, tape player needs a new belt, not melted just gone slack with age.
Says on the back made in japan for PYE, using the EKCO brand name, speaker is made by pioneer is it possible pioneer made the whole unit for PYE ? |

I had one of these a few years ago and I MIGHT have kept some parts, should you need anything. I think Pye dropped the Ekco brand around the same time their TVs started to be fitted with Philips chassis (starting with the G11) - so after 1976, I’d say. The last true Pye designed CTV chassis was the 725 (90degree, delta gun, solid state) - based on their 110 degree 731 chassis. |

Re: Ekco 350
This was made in 1978 so i think probably one of the last radios with the Ekco brand as Pye dropped the name around 1978. It is in very good condition and very well made, it just caught my eye on ebay so i purchased it.

Re: Ekco 350
Most likely a 2.5mm mono input socket. This is late for an EKCO badged variant. By this time Pye were making very little in-house.

Re: Ekco 350
Also the 2 pin power lead gives you an idea of its age as its smaller than the ones on 1980's machines and can only be inserted one way as there is only a groove on one side

Re: Ekco 350
No offence intended but the one in post 6 looks cheap and nasty compared to mine, mine has better build quality, also made in Japan the one in most 6 looks like a typical Tiawanese production rebadged.
