Ekco U29
having almost finished my u29,and very nice it looks as well,a problem still persists, vloume is faily low with only 1 or 2 channels on each waveband, volume increases abit when hand is placed near the frame aerial, also dial lamp only shows as 3volts and is dim, when removed lamp conections show 6.5 volts which i believe is correct

Re: Ekco U29
Not seen one of these but the bulb is rated at 300ma in a 200ma heater chain plus the HT current, it also has a 37ohm resistor across it so it will not be bright.
What work have you done on the set, an earlier post states you have changed most of the old caps, which ones? It’s a short superhet so designed for local stations.

Re: Ekco U29
Presume you have checked voltages etc and they are ok, after that try injecting a signal at the different stages in the radio to try and see were the loss of gain is occurring.
