Formally on Stonebarrow Hill Charmouth. About 30 or 40 years ago this radar station was not only operational but used to interfere with the TV's I had on the bench, two short bleeps every few seconds'

How the mighty have fallen!

End of the last cold war. Once Gorbachev started his reforms in the mid 80's all sorts of military hardware became redundant. Like Greenham Common, site of the peace camp and military facility housing all sorts of weapons of mass destruction, is now a business park.

That is quite a rusting hulk though!

One of those TV programmes we love to hate will turn that into a valuable art sculpture.

Round here we had to retune the modulators in VHS machines etc to avoid the ground radar at Ringway.

At one time most airports used to use the same frequency as VHS recorders were set to at the factory.
It was a pain getting more than one recorder set up.
