Default Avo EM272

I have owned an AVO EM272 from new and until now it has been reliable but it has developed a fault, literally over night.

Having checked the batteries, the fault manifests like this:-

On the ohms range, the meter reads very slightly in reverse from zero when the probe ends are placed together on all ohms ranges.

On the 3 uA range, with no leads connected, when the fault first occurred, the meter went hard over against the end stop as the range selection switch went passed the 3 uA position, but now, a week later, the meter does not go hard over but reads "5" on the 0 - 30 scale, when the selection switch is placed at the 3 uA position.

Does anyone have any experience in repairs to this test meter? Do the symptoms point to anything specific
