It's Bakelite, you know
For those not familiar with this excellent site, I can recommend it heartily. Though not limited to radio or TV (but with material encompassing both), the site covers anything and everything Bakelite. There is a strong emphasis on design, though no highly technical stuff. All delivered with the infectious humour of a great guy, the Bakelite man:

Re: It's Bakelite, you know
And Jools is a member of this forum (naturally!).
Look out for this bizarre electric pencil sharpener:http://bakelite_world_2001.tripod.co...know/id49.html I rescued it from a bin just opposite my house. I couldn't bear to let it be destroyed (the bin men were due that day ) but didn't want it myself, so Jools reimbursed me for postage costs and now it's famous! |

Re: It's Bakelite, you know
I am led to believe that the bakelite museum has a coffin made of bakelite! Does anyone know if this true?

Re: It's Bakelite, you know
Yes I've seen the bakelite coffin too, bad design really as it's not as biodegradeable as the contents...
